چکیده

In this paper the MM ∑K k=1 CPPk/GE/c/L G-queue is introduced and proposed as a generalised Markovian node model in telecommunications networks. An exact and computationally efficient solution is obtained for the steady-state probabilities and performance measures. Issues concerning the computational effort are also discussed. The proposed queue is applied to the performance analysis of optical burst switching (OBS) nodes. The numerical results obtained and also the numerical results of a previous model are compared to the simulation results of the OBS obtained using captured traffic traces. We have also introduced negative customers into the model, in an innovative way, in order to account for the loss of packets due to technology limitations of the FDL’s (fiber delay loop), which is rather specific to the optical domain. The model is quite promising as a viable performance predictor.

ANALYSIS OF FINITE BUFFER RENEWAL INPUT QUEUE WITH BALKING AND MARKOVIAN SERVICE PROCESS

This paper presents the analysis of a renewal input  finite buffer queue wherein the customers can decide either to  join the queue with a probability or balk. The service process is Markovian service process ($MSP$) governed  by an underlying $m$-state Markov chain. Employing the supplementary  variable and imbedded Markov chain techniques,   the steady-state system length distributions at pre...

DISCRETE-TIME GI/D-MSP/1/K QUEUE WITH N THRESHOLD POLICY

This paper presents a discrete-time single-server finite buffer N threshold policy queue with renewal input and discreteMarkovian service process. The server terminates service whenever the system becomes empty, and recommencesservice as soon as the number of waiting customers in the queue is N. We obtain the system-length distributionsat pre-arrival and arbitrary epochs using the supplementary...

Queueing Networks via Fluid Limit Models

The subject of this paper is open multiclass queueing networks, which are common models of communication networks, and complex manufacturing systems such as wafer fabrication facilities. We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of bounds on long-run average moments of the queue lengths at the various stations, and we bound the rate of convergence of the mean queue length to its steady...

An Adaptive Congestion Alleviating Protocol for Healthcare Applications in Wireless Body Sensor Networks: Learning Automata Approach

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...

Tel Aviv University School of Mathematical Science Asymptotic Methods for Queueing Systems and Networks with Application to Telecommunications

This dissertation is concerned with the study of non-Markovian queueing systems and networks, with applications to communication networks. The main contribution of the dissertation consists in deriving results for non-Markovian networks that have been obtained so far only for Markovian queueing networks. We study large closed client/server communication networks and losses in single-server queu...
